The Ningaloo Whaleshark Festival is on again in 2016, from Wednesday May 25 to Sunday May 29. The festival’s five days of activities begin on Wednesday night at the Novotel Ningaloo Resort for the launch of Indian Ocean Imagery’s Whale Shark Mermaid Calendar.
The fun ramps up on Thursday evening with a free family movie night at Exmouth’s Federation Park, featuring live music by the Australian Army 22 piece swing band, food and market stalls, and short films before the feature presentation, Racing Extinction.
Dress up for Friday night’s official Gala Festival Opening at the Novotel Ningaloo Resort. Enjoy exquisite food and drink as well as live entertainment by the wildly entertaining 3 piece tex-mex-metal mariachi band, Kallidad. Tickets on sale online and at the Exmouth Visitor Centre box office soon.
Saturday is Festival Day at Talanjee Oval. The long list of Festival Day activities kick off with a morning fun run and Aussie breakfast before festival activities begin. Live entertainment will be on the main stage from Michael Triscari, Kallidad, The NBC, Dave Mann, Rebecca Schofield, local DJ’s CAT 5, Coral Bay’s Miss Max, The Australian Army Band and more, as well as kids activities including Michael Speranza Pirate Man, huge kite creature flying and workshops, Zap Circus and the Natural Wings aerial troupe, plus market and food stalls throughout the day until 5pm. This is a FREE event.
The Saturday entertainment continues once the sun goes down with live music at Cadillacs Bar & Grill where the festival’s headline musical act, Caravana Sun will be lighting up the stage with their high energy gypsy ska dance music. Fiji-born didgeridoo artist and stringed instrument virtuoso, Jay Hoad will also be bringing the noise. Tickets on sale online and at the Exmouth Visitor Centre box office soon.
The festival continues on Sunday with a Big Day Out on Ningaloo Reef to meet the stars of the show, Ningaloo whale sharks, before winding up with a fun filled family afternoon of activities and live entertainment at the Exmouth Yacht Club on Town Beach. Tickets at the gate.
