Morning Walk at Matilda Bay and Kings Park

A morning to enjoy Matilda Bay shoreline and discover Kings Park's Kokoda Track!

We’ll gather at the coffee kiosk at Matilda Bay. From there we’ll walk around the shoreline to the Old Brewery. We’ll move at conversational pace with time to stop for photography and to appreciate points of history, both indigenous and colonial.

Climbing the Kokoda Track stairway will bring us up to King’s Park. A figure eight loop will take us through the range of environments of WA, with soils and plants showing the State’s diversity. We’ll have the opportunity to talk about the long history of this place, to listen and to share our understandings. We’ll cross the Lottery West bridge, traverse the Pioneer Women’s park area, with its views, plants and birdlife. A steady downhill tramp, with time for conversation around caring for our country and working to preserve this species hotspot of the planet, will bring us out at UWA. Arriving back at Matilda Bay by midday, we’ll have time to enjoy a shared barbecue or walkers’ lunch and reflections on both appreciation of, and care for, this magnificent place we all call home.

Hope to see you there and to hear your ideas and stories.
