Baudin’s Black-Cockatoo Conservation Status
Despite being recognised as Critically Endangered by theInternational Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Western Australia’s Baudin’s Black-Cockatoo remains listed as Endangered by the WA Government’s Threatened Species Scientific Committee.

BirdLife Australia nominated the species for uplisting in 2023 based on research showing a 90% population decline over 40 years, with fewer than 2,500 birds remaining in shrinking habitats. However, the Scientific Committee has twice declined to change the status, citing insufficient information.
