If you have ever thought about getting active for the climate - now is the time!
Together we can solve environmental challenges while future-proofing our economy, creating jobs and providing a better quality of life for all West Australians.
Right now we need to show that Western Australians want bold action on climate. Putting up a sign is a clear message to our leaders in politics, business and the community that we want climate action, and we want it now!
Put a sign up on your letterbox, front gate, your apartment balcony or at your office or local business. You can also help us get more signs out by coming to a volunteer action!
*Please note, our Climate Action Now signs and stickers are only available to addresses WA*
CAN signs are 100% recycled, and stickers and signs are printed with vegetable based inks.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is it?
Climate Action Now is a national initiative by a number of climate organisations, including the Climate Action Network Australia and Australian Conservation Foundation. Its aim is simple - to show decision makers that more and more people in Australia support more ambitious climate action. The mass deployment of a high visibility symbol in the form of Climate Action Now stickers, signs, posters etc to our communities result in a powerful and visible message that Australians support climate action.
Why are we doing it?
We are at a critical point in taking action on climate change. There is still time to act - but it is running out fast. We need big action this decade.
Greenhouse gas emissions are actually rising in WA and we are the only state that has no net-zero targets, interim or otherwise. However our research shows that West Australians care about climate change and want to do something about it.
Right now, we need to demonstrate that Western Australians want bold action on climate. We want our state and federal politicians and decision-makers to see a flurry of Climate Action Now signs wherever they go in WA - so they have no doubt this issue matters to West Australians.
It doesn’t matter which side of the political spectrum you find yourself in – putting up a sign is a clear message to our leaders in politics, business and the community that we want climate action, and we want it now!
What are we doing?
We are working with organisations and community groups throughout WA that want to visibly show their support for stronger action on climate. To do this, we’re providing people with signs and stickers that demonstrate their support and connect them with others that feel the same and want the same action.
Who are we working with?
Climate Action Now is a nationwide movement. By taking part, you are joining millions of Australians that also want to demonstrate their support for bold climate action so that our communities are cleaner and fairer for everyone. Other participating organisations include the Australian Conservation Foundation, Doctors for the Environment and the Queensland Conservation Council.
What does climate action look like?
Together, we must protect people and wildlife from worse heat waves, bushfires, droughts and storms fuelled by climate warming, and look after communities most impacted by climate change.
To achieve this, the best science says that Australia needs to slash climate pollution this decade. This means reducing pollution by 75% below 2005 levels by 2030; and to reach zero emissions by 2035.
These targets at minimum match the United States, the United Kingdom and our trading partners such as the European Union and Japan.
Right now, the WA Government only has an aspirational goal to reach net-zero by 2050. To reach net-zero emissions, we need a strong plan with goals to reach along the way. Official figures show that WA’s greenhouse emissions are increasing, mostly from gas - the opposite of what we need to happen.
While the Federal Government has committed to net zero emissions by 2050, we know this target is too late, with the rest of the world looking towards 2030.
There is still no plan to transition Australia from fossil fuels to renewable energy, and the Federal Government is continuing to support subsidies for gas and even coal power stations that would increase emissions, not reduce them.
Right now, we need to demonstrate that West Australians want bold action on climate. We want our State and Federal MPs to see a flurry of Climate Action Now signs wherever they go in WA - so they have no doubt this issue matters to WA.
How would we cut emissions?
A commitment from the Federal Government/major parties for a national plan to slash climate pollution this decade, with strong targets that at minimum match the United States, the United Kingdom and our trading partners such as the European Union and Japan.
This plan would include:
-
Delivery of 100% of our electricity from sun, wind and other renewable power and storage by 2030;
-
A national plan to clean up transport and drive the shift to electric vehicles;
-
End public funding for coal, oil and gas;
-
Deliver an Australian Trees for Climate Plan to reduce climate pollution by at least 1 billion tonnes by 2030.
- Australia contributing its fair share of global climate finance to support low-income countries implement climate change action.
