WA is home to the world's only jarrah forest - but it's being wiped out.
Just south of Perth/Boorloo, the Northern Jarrah Forest is being cleared and mined for bauxite at an alarming rate—these jarrah forests are only found in the south west corner of Western Australia. Bauxite mining is the primary cause of deforestation in the South West. It is destroying ancient forests, pushing wildlife to the brink and risking our way of life.
Yet both the State and Federal Governments have approved further mining expansions.
Our forests are too precious to lose. We must act now.
