The Wilderness Society
The Wilderness Society is a community-based environmental protection organisation. We were born in 1976, and our first major victory was Australia's most famous environmental campaign - saving the Franklin River. Since then, with the support of thousands of concerned people across the country, we've worked to protect millions of hectares of our greatest wild places.
The following are The Wilderness Society's seven strategic goals.
- To protect wilderness and nature across Australia by creating protected areas and strong, nationally consistent laws and institutions.
- To keep as great a volume of fossil fuels (coal, oil and gas) in the ground as possible, limiting Australia’s contribution to catastrophic climate change.
- To enliven and sustain a diverse and engaged social movement in support of our purpose and vision by building relationships and empowering our supporters.
- To inspire the Australian community with compelling, consistent and credible communications in support of our purpose and vision.
- To raise funds to support our purpose and vision and maintain stable long-term relationships with members and other financial givers.
- To maintain a healthy organisational culture.
- To implement governance and structural changes and facilitate clear direction from our board, supported across the Wilderness Society organisations.

Peel-Harvey Catchment Council
The Peel-Harvey Catchment Council (PHCC) is an incorporated, not-for-profit, community based Natural Resource Management organisation that promotes an integrated approach to catchment management and the way we protect and restore the environment within the Peel-Harvey catchment.
Our activities address sustainable natural resource management (NRM) including climate change, river and wetland restoration, biodiversity protection, sustainable agriculture and building community capacity. The past ecological collapse of the Peel-Harvey Estuarine System demands a continued emphasis on water quality issues.
The PHCC board membership is comprised of 10 community members, 2 local government representatives and representatives of the Departments of Agriculture and Food, Environment and Conservation, Water and the Peel Development Commission. The PHCC board is skills based, with members selected by an independent panel based on their experience and understanding of Natural Resource Management.

Perth Bushwalkers Club Inc
The Perth Bushwalkers Club was formed in 1969. Of the hardy band of walkers that came together in the beginning, Geoff Schaeffer is regarded as the founder of the club.
The club has always been concerned with minimum impact walking.
Perth Bushwalkers Club is the largest and most active of Western Australia’s bushwalking / hiking clubs and also one of the oldest clubs, with a considerable depth of experience to share.
Members enjoy a wonderfully wide range of bushwalking and other outdoors activities, many close to Perth, others in remote parts of W.A., interstate, and N.Z. The year-round program includes half-day walks, day walks, overnight backpacking and adventurous multi-day expeditions lasting up to ten days or even longer. The local summer activities also include easier river and beach walks, cycling and canoeing activities.
We encourage members to develop bushwalking skills and self-reliance. We offer training opportunities in navigation (map and compass, and GPS), first aid and walk leadership, plus abseiling and canyoning. Our members also enjoy mingling socially at various relaxing Club events throughout the year.
