Derbal Nara: Nature, Culture, and the Future of Cockburn Sound

Join us for the next Environment Matters forum as we explore the future of Derbal Nara/Cockburn Sound, a place of rich biodiversity, deep cultural significance and growing environmental pressure.

This public forum will bring together community, First Nations, environmental and industry perspectives to explore what is at stake for the Sound, the challenges it faces, and what is needed to protect its ecological, cultural and social values into the future.

About the Event

Derbal Nara/Cockburn Sound is one of Western Australia’s most significant marine and coastal environments. Home to important marine habitats, wildlife and living cultural connections, it is a place where nature, culture and community are deeply intertwined.

As industrial, defence and port-related development pressures continue to grow, this forum will create space for an important conversation about cumulative impacts, shared responsibility and the future we want for the Sound.
