December 2017

2017 has been a huge year, with some tough times and some incredible celebrations for our environment and communities. Let's take a moment to reflect on what we have done together.

At the beginning of this year, you might have been fighting to stop the bulldozers in the Beeliar Wetlands, putting up a yard sign, lobbying your election candidates to support a Frack Free Future, or feeling anger as both Liberal and Labor rejected a Renewable Energy Target for WA.

But you did it. You never stopped speaking out, turning up, donating, or spreading the word.

And you never stopped believing in a better future.

As a result, you helped deliver a dramatic turnaround in the fate of our environment, wildlife and communities across the state. Thanks to you, the McGowan Government has a clear mandate on the issues we care about.

Protection for the Beeliar Wetlands, a statewide moratorium on fracking, and the start of a transition to renewable energy have all been achieved this year.

But you didn't stop there!

You continued the momentum - to push for an end to single use plastic bags, a permanent ban on fracking across WA, and to stop Adani’s irresponsible coal mine.

Oh, and then you helped launch a Supreme Court action against former Environment Minister Albert Jacob. Because our hard-won environment laws were never intended to be used to allow the extinction of wildlife or the destruction of ancient cultural heritage.

Congratulations on achieving incredible things in 2017. Here’s your year in photos!

Thank you for everything you do for our wildlife and environment - we’re so grateful to have you in our community!

We can’t wait to see what we do together in 2018.

See you next year!
