Defend WA's Nature - Forests Action

Our numbats and forests won’t survive without strong nature laws.

Join us on Monday 5 August to call on Mining Minister, David Michael, to defend WA’s nature with strong nature laws!

The Northern Jarrah Forests are on the brink of collapse due to climate change, and are being devastated by the ongoing threat of forest mining.

We urgently need strong nature laws that protect this biodiversity hotspot from mining expansions and prevent further mammalian extinctions.

At this critical moment, the WA Government is poised to introduce its nature law reforms to Parliament in August. There's a danger that these reforms could weaken the few defences currently in place, accelerating the destruction of our fragile environment.

The government needs to provide a fair say to communities, not just corporations, and implement policies to end the rampant destruction of nature.

We’ll be showing up to give voice to the many creatures, including numbats, who are at risk of extinction due to forest mining. We’ll have numbat masks for you to wear if you would like to join in on the fun, and please wear a numbat shirt if you have one!

Make sure you also turn up on Tuesday 6 August when MPs return to Parliament, to make some noise and call on the WA Government to stop undermining our nature laws and instead ensure better protections for nature! RSVP for the Parliament action here.
