How will making a public comment make a difference
This community consultation period is a key way the public can have a say on this development proposal. Submissions made will shape decisions made by the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).
Following the Public Environmental Review processes, the EPA assesses the information it has and decides whether in its view
- The environmental impacts of the development can be managed and mitigated and the development can proceed, or
- That the impacts can be managed with special conditions/changes or
- That the environmental impacts cannot be managed satisfactorily.
The EPA then makes a recommendation to the Minister for the Environment who has the final say on whether to allow the development or not.
CCWA is a voice for nature in WA and it will be making a submission with the position that the development poses unacceptable impacts and risks to the environment. Writing your own submission will help to make a collective statement. Western Australians deeply value the natural environment, our distinctive landscapes and care for our unique wildlife.
Making a public comment will also show the small local community group—Preserve Gnarabup—that WA will show up to #PreserveGnarabup. Gnarabup is irreplaceable, it's too precious to lose.
It’s quick and easy to make a submission!
