Keep Carnaby’s Flying – Ngoolarks Forever is a science-informed, community-powered project delivered through Murdoch University's Harry Butler Institute and Ngangk Yira Institute for Change. From 2022 to 2024, the project partnered with local governments, Aboriginal organisations, and environmental NGOs to engage the Perth community in black cockatoo conservation. Eight Conservation Action Plans were developed for councils, guiding protection of roosting and foraging habitats. The project also delivered revegetation and bird waterers to support Carnaby’s cockatoos in urban areas.
