Day 15 - Plastic free film screening

It’s Plastic Free July, and I'm challenging myself to find alternatives to single use plastic for an entire month - and to write a daily blog on the most interesting parts of the experience. This evening I went to a film screening which didn’t use any single use plastic.

When catering for larger groups, it can be tempting to buy disposable cups and plates. But this evening I went to Marshall Arts Boutique Events’ screening of “Tomorrow”, and they served one hundred people drinks and snacks without any single use plastic.

I prefer drinking wine out of a wine glass than a plastic cup - I’m sure you do too! And glass is one of those win-win situations: it’s more enjoyable for us, it’s better for the environment, and it’s more cost effective for the host.

And maybe companies can put out a few stainless steel cups too, for those who prefer something less fragile. I might buy one for when my nephew visits!

What are your tips for hosting plastic free dinners or events? How do you avoid buying disposable cups and plates?
