It’s Plastic Free July, and I'm challenging myself to find alternatives to single use plastic for an entire month - and to write a daily blog on the most interesting parts of the experience. Today I needed to buy a plastic free present, as I’m celebrating a family member’s birthday on the weekend.
I can’t really share what I bought, as my family are kind enough to read this blog - the birthday person included! But I’m glad I was able to find a present that a) wasn’t plastic itself, and b) wasn’t encased in plastic packaging.
Cards were another story though, and I wasn’t able to find a card that wasn’t wrapped in plastic. So either I'll keep looking, or make one!
The amount of single use plastic everywhere is starting to alarm me. How did we get to the point where we need everything to be so new, that we need millions of plastic barriers separating everything from everything else?
What are we so afraid of? And is it scarier than plastic outweighing fish in the ocean by 2050?
Share your thoughts! Do you buy or make plastic free presents?
