WA's Groundwater Risks
In Western Australia, we are highly dependent on groundwater for food production, for our homes and gardens and for industry. This Environment Matters seminar will examine how well these precious groundwater resources are managed.
We will be talking with experts to explore some critical questions such as: Are we mining our groundwater at an unsustainable rate? What does a changing climate mean for our groundwater? What measures are in place to protect our groundwater from pollution and other impacts? And what do industries like gas fracking, coal and uranium mining mean for our groundwater aquifers?
Come along to this free event and make up your own mind about the future of the precious resource that falls from the sky and rests beneath our feet.
Speakers:
- Ben Drew - Manager Water Allocation Planning, Department of Water
- Michael Bennett - Phd candidate UWA
- Dave Kelly - Labor Spokesperson for Water; Fisheries and Youth
MC: CCWA Director Piers Verstegen
