Wally Kerkhof is a respected apiarist and lifelong conservationist with decades of hands-on experience supporting black cockatoo recovery. Since the early 1980s, Wally has designed and constructed artificial nesting logs from fallen trees to help address the shortage of suitable natural hollows for Carnaby’s Black Cockatoos. His work in Moora has significantly contributed to breeding success. Wally also cares for injured birds — including Elvis, a 37-year-old Red-tailed Black Cockatoo and lifelong companion.
