Are you hungry for climate action? Do you feel like we need to be doing something different?
Well, we've been doing some thinking and have big news!
Every day, we see firsthand the alarming impacts of climate change. We've seen more heatwaves and fire prone summers, more damaging floods, and more communities endangered by rising sea levels - and that’s just in Australia.
We’re rightly worried about our future, and at a time when we need strong leadership and ambition, our government keeps kicking climate action down the road. In recent months we’ve seen:
- A major government report on the dire climate risks to our country if we hit 2 or 3 degrees of warming,
- A weak national climate target that sets us up for 2 to 3 degrees of warming, and
- The approval of a massive gas project out to 2070, which sets us up for failure to meet even that weak target.
If you are feeling at a loss, you’re not alone.
So, what can we do?
For a while now, we've been using the same strategies to demand stronger action on climate and the environment. Brilliant work has been done, and important wins have been secured - but the pace of policy action is not enough.
If we keep trying the same things over and over, we’ll keep ending up with a tired movement, lower turnouts, and governments who aren’t feeling the pressure to act.
To get the ambitious climate action most Australians want, we need to do things differently – we need to build a new climate movement with room for everyone and with the power to demand real change.
We're proposing new strategies, new collaborations, and new ambition. For this new climate workshop, bring your passion, concerns, and ideas. Together we’ll unpack what's going on in the climate space right now, and how we can demand better for ourselves and for future generations.
