Remembering the Christmas Island Pipistrelle Bat talk

Come join the Conservation Council of WA and the WA Bat Network to hear the story of the recently extinct, endemic and once common Christmas Island Pipistrelle bat. This is an important story with lessons that can help us better protect species across the world. You'll hear the story of the CI pipistrelle, a bit about the nature fundraiser and also what is currently being done on the island.

About the speaker: To mark 15 years since the extinction of the Christmas Island Pipistrelle, our Citizen Science Program Manager, Kelly Sheldrick completed the Christmas Island marathon dressed as a pipistrelle, then spoke about the pipistrelle and species extinction at the island's first bat night. She has used this as an opportunity to remember and share learnings from the pipistrelle's story and raise money to help protect nature and biodiversity.
