We know that gas pollution heats the planet a whopping 80 times more than coal pollution over a 20 year period, and Western Australia's gas exports are our largest contribution to global climate change. But our state government continues to push the narrative that LNG can play a role in decarbonising our trading partners. The science is clear: they can't.

To avoid the worst impacts of climate change, the science says we must shift to renewable energy this decade. With less than five years to go, the state government must urgently turn its attention to transitioning to solar and wind, instead of running public relations for the fossil fuel industry. 

Unless it's challenged, the Inquiry into the role of WA in the global effort on decarbonisation will attempt to justify exporting more fossil gas, as well as failed technology like carbon dumping.
