Talison's Lithium Mine Expansion, near Greenbushes

Talison Lithium Australia Pty Ltd (Talison) propose to expand their Greenbushes Lithium Mine. Located 250kms south of Perth, near the town of Greenbushes, this mine is already the worlds largest hard-rock lithium mine.

The proposed expansion plan would:

  • increase the mines footprint by 28%, from 2,207 ha to 2,826 ha
  • result in the direct clearing of an additional 162 hectares of native vegetation and 29 hectares for mine rehabilitation disturbance, in addition to approximately 350 hectares already approved
  • significantly alter the Lyon River catchment
  • allow the construction of two Waste Rock Landforms, one located immediately east of the South Western Highway, beside a key regional tourism and lifestyle route.
