Online Calling Party - Protect the Northern Jarrah Forests

The Northern Jarrah Forests, (south of Perth/Boorloo) are some of the most beautiful, diverse and vulnerable forests on Earth, but they are facing a major threat.

More than a century of logging and clearing have had major impacts on the Northern Jarrah Forests, their wildlife and waterways, and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has recently found that they are one of a handful of global ecosystems at particular risk of collapse due to the drying and warming climate.

The native forest logging ban came into force in 2024 (which is massive progress for this area and the rest of the South West forests) but another major threat to these forests must be addressed - mining expansions.

Late last year, the WA Government approved South32's Worsley bauxite mine expansion, ignoring over 130 community appeals against the project.

Federal Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek is now our best hope of stopping the destruction of nearly 4,000 ha of the Northern Jarrah Forest and countless endangered and unique species of flora and fauna.

The Minister has until the 5th of February to make her decision, so this is our moment to make our voices heard loud and clear.

Join this virtual call party to tell Minister Plibersek you want to protect the forests and reject South32's devastating project.

To make a call with a group of like-minded people, make sure you RSVP to receive the Zoom link!
