Day 16 - Plastic free loose produce

It’s Plastic Free July, and I'm challenging myself to find alternatives to single use plastic for an entire month - and to write a daily blog on the most interesting parts of the experience. Today I went to Harper’s Food Market to look at some loose produce.

I visited Harper’s Food Market in O’Connor as it had been recommended to me, and they had a great selection of loose produce which could be packed in paper bags. It was surprising to see plastic packaging in other sections of the shop, but they had plenty of plastic free options too.

As I love seafood (despite knowing it’s filled with microplastics), I decided to visit Direct Seafoods nearby as well. Despite the shop being filled with beautiful fish and shellfish that I really wanted to try, I couldn’t, as the majority of it was vacuum sealed in plastic.

So my fish is in plastic, and there’s plastic in my fish. Pollution is pretty personal now!

How about you - do you use paper bags or something else for loose produce?
