Public Forum - Climate change, health & renewables in Western Australia with Prof. Fiona Stanley

RenewWA_Forum_Thumbnail.png

This forum promises to be informative and pertinent to the coming state elections. Polling last year has shown that most Australians support action on climate change and are in favour of renewable energy.

The evening will begin with a presentation given by Professor Fiona Stanley focussed on the health impacts of climate change and our humanitarian and international responsibilities. The second presentation on renewable energy will be by Michael Lord, Director of Research at Beyond Zero Emissions outlining the economic opportunities for WA in transitioning to a zero-carbon future. We will then be inviting political candidates to offer a short presentation of their party’s position on this issue before proceeding to a panel discussion with opportunities for the audience to ask questions.

Our discussion will canvas the opportunities for change in our economy and energy systems, for new industries and the risks to climate, health and current economic activity if WA maintains a business as usual approach on climate.
