Wild Walk - Kununurra

Would you like to see some more of the stunning country around Kununurra? Would you like to learn about some of the local trees and plants? Are you reasonably fit, agile and an early riser? Did you bring your boots or covered in footwear with you? If so, the Monday, Wednesday and Friday early morning walks of the Muster program may appeal to you.

Fitness, agility, sturdy footwear and water carried in a backpack are essential. Boots and long trousers or gaiters are recommended. This is rocky terrain with patches of spinifex as well as some dense bush. On some of the walks you may get your boots wet!

While these walks are not for faint hearted strollers or for those who want to stop to take lots of pictures (a few would be fine!), they are for genial nature lovers and once concluded, these are all places you can go back to at your leisure.

The walks are between 3 – 5 kilometres in length and all traverse some rugged and difficult terrain with some steep climbs and descents, hence the necessity for fitness regardless of age. Meet at 5.30am at the top of Hibiscus Street where it meets the highway towards Katherine at the turn into Lakeside. Apologies but no dogs allowed as these walks are in the Mirima National Park. Return between 7.30 to 8.00am
