Saturday 17 November 2018 marked 10 years since former Premier Colin Barnett lifted the ban on uranium mining in the State. Barnett promised 10 mines by 2020 and today we can say proudly that there are no operating uranium mines in WA, and not one even close to operating. It is thanks to the strong community opposition across the state that continually contests and challenges all uranium proposals, the strategic campaign organising and the slow and steady decline of the global nuclear industry.
